Two Minute Friend

I have a special friend; he’s always by my side.
He was the first thing I saw when I woke up
That Saturday morning.
There was no one around but he and I.
We had our whole lives ahead of us.

We had so much to talk about,
My first crush,
What my favorite movies are.
The latest sports news.
Oh yeah, the A’s beat the Blue Jays.

We were so happy we could finally drive.
Now we could get away from it all.
But when I think back,
It all went to fast.
Now I ask myself,

Why I had to fly high.
Why I had to drink and drive.
Now were together and I wonder
Why I had to die.

But I realized it was only my imagination.
You were only in my mind,
You were only a two-minute friend,
And this is why I will never drink and drive.
