Merry little snowflakes-
Wafting joyfully by,
Tatting lacy patterns
Between the earth and sky.
Like a whirling dervish,
Dancing round and round,
Trying to tag each other,
Before they reach the ground.
Gleefully tapping on noses,
Gently on lashes and hair,
Softly on collar and shoulders-
And lovingly linger there.
Finally piecing together
Their mantle so heaven blest,
Their task complete-their energy deplete,
They gently come to rest.
There they spread their blanket,
Feather soft and light-
Transforming stark winter landscape
Into beauty-serene and bright.
