Met him on a warm
Lovely summer evening
Moon was so bright
Wouldn't even think it was night
The music was playing
A soft romantic song
Everyone was dancing
To the sweet beautiful songs
I sat all by myself alone
My friend was dancing
She had left me sitting all alone
I thought maybe I should go home
I sat there looking down
When I felt the presence of someone
I felt them sit down
In the chair right next to mine
Shyly glancing over
He was sitting by me
As handsome as he could be
Just sitting they're smiling at me
Giving him a gentle smile
He smiled and raised to his feet
As he held out his hands, said
Could I have this dance
We have now been dancing
For many, many years
My sweet husband still says
Darling, Could I have this dance
